METHYL TRIOCTYL/TRICAPRYL AMMONIUM CHLORIDE'S Role in Modern Chemical Manufacturing

Image
Methyl Trioctyl/Tricapryl Ammonium Chloride is a quaternary Ammonium salt. Also known as Aliquat 336, its properties have been tested in the laboratory and found useful for various applications in modern chemical manufacturing. Its common role in manufacturing is its use as a phase transfer catalyst. This and other of its applications are discussed here. Methyl Trioctyl/Tricapryl Ammonium Chloride as A Surfactant Aliquat 336 plays a role as a surfactant in modern chemical manufacturing. Surfactants are substances that reduce the surface tension that exists between two different surfaces. Usually, it is between two immiscible liquids or between a gas and a liquid. As a surfactant, Aliquat 336 is effective. This is because it has long hydrophobic chains.  Furthermore, surfactants are used in producing foams, suspensions, and emulsions. When used to manufacture coatings, adhesives, and latex paints, it prevents the settling of the particles and stabilizes the dispersion. Also, Aliqu...
